Implant-Supported Overdentures: Secure Your Smile, Ditch the Glue

If you wear traditional dentures, you know the daily struggle. The messy adhesives, the fear of your teeth slipping while you talk, and the inability to eat your favorite foods can take a toll on your confidence and quality of life.

At Gardens Implant & Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer a life-changing upgrade: Implant-Supported Overdentures (often called "Snap-On Dentures").

This advanced solution combines the affordability of dentures with the stability of dental implants. By placing just a few implants in your jaw, we create a secure foundation that your denture "snaps" onto. The result is a rock-solid smile that stays put without glue, allowing you to laugh, speak, and eat freely again.

EXPERTISE

Why Choose Gardens for Your Overdentures?

Achieving a secure "snap" requires precise surgical planning and prosthetic design. Here is why patients in Palm Beach Gardens trust Dr. Hans Almanzar to upgrade their smiles:

  • Implant Mastery: Dr. Hans Almanzar is a Master of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (MICOI). He understands exactly where to place implants to maximize retention and stability, ensuring your denture never rocks or shifts.

  • Bone Preservation: Traditional dentures accelerate bone loss because they press on the gums. Our implant-supported solution stimulates the jawbone, helping to preserve your facial structure and keep you looking younger.

  • Custom Esthetics: We don't just focus on the function. We design your overdenture to look like natural, beautiful teeth, customizing the tooth shape and gum shade to complement your face.

PROCEDURE

The Path to a Stable Smile

Upgrading to snap-on dentures is a streamlined process designed for your comfort.

  1. 3D Planning: We use CBCT scans to identify the optimal locations in your jawbone to place the implants.

  2. Implant Placement: Dr. Almanzar surgically places 2 to 4 titanium implants into the jaw. This is a minor procedure often performed under local anesthesia or sedation.

  3. Healing: We allow the implants to integrate with the bone for a few months. You can usually wear your current denture (modified with a soft liner) during this time.

  4. Attachment: Once healed, we attach "locator" abutments to the implants and the corresponding "snaps" inside your denture.

  5. The Snap: We fit your denture, and you hear that satisfying click. Your teeth are now secure.

TESTIMONIAL

Patient Success Story: Eating Apples Again

Actual Patient Scenario

The Challenge: "Robert," a 68-year-old retiree, hated his lower denture. No matter how much adhesive he used, it floated around his mouth. He avoided social dinners because he was afraid to eat in public. He couldn't afford a fixed bridge but needed a solution.

The Solution: Dr. Almanzar recommended a 2-implant overdenture for his lower jaw. It was a cost-effective way to lock the teeth in place.

The Result: The day Robert got his attachments, he couldn't believe the difference. He tried to push the denture out with his tongue, and it wouldn't budge. He went home and ate a crisp apple for the first time in ten years. He told us, "It’s the best money I’ve ever spent. I feel secure."

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this different from All-on-4®?

Yes. All-on-4® is a fixed bridge that does not come out (only the dentist can remove it). An Overdenture is removable; you take it out yourself at night to clean it, just like a regular denture, but it snaps firmly in place during the day.

Do I still need denture glue?

No! That is the best part. The mechanical "snap" connection between the implant and the denture provides all the retention you need. You can say goodbye to messy pastes and adhesives forever.

Can I use my old denture?

Sometimes. If your current denture is in excellent condition and fits well, we might be able to retrofit it with snaps. However, for the best long-term results and fit, we usually recommend fabricating a new denture designed specifically for implants.

Is the surgery painful?

Most patients report very little discomfort. Placing 2 or 4 implants is a relatively minor oral surgery. We use local anesthesia to ensure you are numb, and we offer sedation if you are anxious. Recovery is typically quick.

How do I clean them?

You will remove the denture at night and brush it with a denture cleaner. You will also brush around the implant "locators" in your mouth to keep the gum tissue healthy. It is very easy to maintain.
