General Questions About Implants

What exactly is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small, screw-like post made of medical-grade titanium. It is surgically placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once healed, it serves as a sturdy anchor for a custom crown, bridge, or denture.

Am I a candidate for implants?

Most likely, yes. If you are an adult with generally good health, you are a candidate. The main requirements are healthy gums and enough bone to support the implant. Even if you have bone loss, we can often rebuild it with bone grafting to make you a candidate.

How long do they last?

Dental implants are designed to be a permanent solution. The titanium post can last a lifetime with proper care. The visible crown may need to be replaced after 15-20 years due to normal wear, just like a regular dental crown.

Can my body reject an implant?

"Rejection" (like an organ transplant) is extremely rare because titanium is biocompatible. However, an implant can fail to integrate with the bone if there is infection, uncontrolled diabetes, or heavy smoking. Our success rate is over 95% because we screen carefully for these risks.

TESTIMONIAL

Surgery, Pain & Recovery

Is the surgery painful?

This is the #1 question we get! The answer is no. You are completely numb during the procedure. Most patients report that it is surprisingly comfortable, often easier than a tooth extraction. We also offer IV Sedation so you can sleep through the entire visit.

How long does it take to heal?

The surgery itself takes about an hour for a single implant. However, the biological process of osseointegration (the bone fusing to the implant) takes about 3 to 4 months. This waiting period is crucial for long-term stability.

Will I be toothless during healing?

Never. We always provide a temporary solution so you can smile confidently while your implant heals. For front teeth, we use a temporary crown or "flipper." For full-arch cases, you leave with a fixed temporary bridge the same day.

Can I get teeth in one day?

In many cases, yes! This is called "Immediate Load." If your bone quality is excellent, we can place the implant and attach a temporary tooth immediately. This is standard for our All-on-4® full-arch procedure.

FAQs

Cost & Insurance Questions

How much do implants cost?

The cost varies depending on the number of implants, the need for bone grafting, and the type of final restoration. A single implant (including the post, abutment, and crown) typically ranges from $3,500 to $5,000. We provide a precise, itemized quote at your consultation.

Does insurance cover implants?

Many dental plans now cover a portion of the implant procedure, or at least the crown that goes on top. We will verify your specific benefits for you.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We believe finances shouldn't stop you from getting the care you need. We work with CareCredit and LendingClub to offer flexible monthly payment plans, often with 0% interest options.
